  • Socialism = Fail

  • I love this man, I wish I could meet him one day as he is a man who epitome of humanity. We love you Tony.

    Cheers from Australia!

  • Labour really do co-ordinate the criminal actions of the British state ,and give material support to the major terroristic forces in the world today (including the IDF). Admittedly, they claim to forward the 'interests of british workers' while deploying their luftwaffe. What a farce.

THis is a cowardly and dishonest way of avoiding the matter under discussion. To support labour is to support its crimes and should not be condoned by progressive and decent people.

  • "brutal torture, flogging, maiming or execution, being shot, drowned, frozen, buried alive, or hacked to death by swords for dissenting"

Sounds like US and UK sponsored regimes, prisons, states, wars, rendition, doesn't it?

How very democratic and civilised to muder 1.5m Iraqis, 4m Koreans , 3m vietnamese, 5m congolese. Did we / you vote for that? What nonsense you use to comfort yourself.

  • So Tony Benn is more dangerous than the Cheka, in your opinion? Me, I'd rather deal with a broadly corrupt government that I can vote against than expect brutal torture, flogging, maiming or execution, being shot, drowned, frozen, buried alive, or hacked to death by swords for dissenting.

    :P

  • My point, global loon, is that he may as well become a 'vocal dissenter' within any of the bourgeois parties (Tory, Liberal, etc.)

Lenin described social democracy as a 'stinking corpse' in 1914, as during WW1 each national party (except the RSDLP) betrayed workers to serve their own national imperialist warmongers.

Labour remains more dangerous than these other parties precisely because it seems (to some) 'aligned with the broad labour movement', while really championing the city's interests.

  • Tony Benn has aligned himself with the broad labour movement but has also been an ongoing and vocal dissenter within his own party.

  • Tony Benn is one of the greatest and most eloquent men of the last 3 generations. If all politicians worked from his place of reason and morality we would be living in far more beautiful today

  • I don't need to tar them mikey, they tar themselves.

What crimes does the Labour Party have to commit before these left-phrase mongering scoundrels divorce it?

Genocide is no crime if it's conducted by their own party it seems.

Labour's membership is dwindling; but its persistent influence in the Unions, as elsewhere, severely retards working-class progress.

There is not an oz of difference between the policy of Labour or Tory, and to pretend otherwise is to delude yourself, my friend.

  • Tony Benn isn't recruiting anyone to an imperialist cause. The Labour Party has a very broad base of supporters - there may be the "business friendly" right wing of the party, which occupies the positions of power in government at the present time, but there is also many commited anti-war campaigners in the party who abhor what the other half have done, and Tony Benn is one of those people who wish to see an end to war. To tar everyone in the Labour Party with the same brush is unjustified.
