The war between Spain and France erupted at the battle of Toulose. After France successfully took Bordexeus and Rennes from Spain's grip. King Roberto launched a two pronged attack. He seiged, and waited to starve The castle at Toulose. When he was surrounded by roughly 4500 men willingly giving it their all. But they were at a severe disadvantage. King Roberto brought his army from the Portugal and Moorish campaigns retrofitted them with new swords and armor and set out to retaliate against the French. While his Prince Alfonso, took Paris, Rheims, along with the coastal town. The Spanish Navy also lent its hand already overworked with the campaign in Italy with Milan, Venice, Sicily. The Pope being attacked by Venice and Sicily lent his hand. While all of France's port were blocked off, their navy's at the bottom of the ocean. Milan and The Holy Roman Empire threw in to help stave off this inevitable conquista of Europe.

Disclaimer: The battle video starts as the last 1300 men of the surviving French counter-attack mount the last charge onto my position. Most of Spains victories come from her Navy, crossbowmen. Along with The Cavalry screening tactic that any nation could use. Very devastating.

  • In this battle, it looks like you try to employ the hammer and anvil strategy, but don't really put it into it's proper use. It seems like its more of just a simple hard cavalry charge into their rear guard. I may be wrong but i believe the strategy behind the hammer and anvil is to attack from the flanks and force the enemy to continue their push into your center column, effectively trapping their forces and "hammering" their infantry etc. into your main fighting force.

  • You're probaly right but you also didnt see much of the battle previously. Either way, it was a major cavalry maneuver to say the least.

By the way, the tactic being used is what Alexander used.. extensively. hammer and anvil.
