This video shows the Paia 9700 series synthesizer that I built. It does not look like most 9700 kits because I did not buy the faceplate kits but instead built my own control surfaces. I also did a few modification to the original circuit design like break out the white noise as a separate output, and add a series of 'Multiples' to facilitate patching.

In this video you can also see a couple of sequencers I am building to work with this synth.

Many of the parts that the basic Paia kits did not come with were acquired at the Reuseum. The face plates of each of the modules are just old pcb boards that were to be thrown out but thanks to the Reuseum they ended up getting salvaged and re-purposed. I think the synth looks cool with its frugal look.

  • Looks like you used PCB material for your face plates and will allow light to shine through. Back light that goodness for a Tron effect.

  • Love the vid, and the clips of your building process! Was this a pretty difficult beast to create? How much knowledge of electronic gear is needed to make DIY modules?

  • respect ! looks and sounds great from here !

  • @nathanielscott are images available to etch my own sequencer pcb from your design? or possibly some pcb's were offered at muffwiggler or electro-music ?

  • Genial! Congratulations!

  • @3m30s - Awesome Bass!!!
