New Ways of Working Together

New Ways of Working Together is a global initiative launched in 2006 to focus attention on how trading partner collaboration delivers better business results.

While in many ways it reinforces elements of Efficient Consumer Response and emphasizes collaboration, New Ways of Working Together recognizes that business today is enabled by electronic capabilities, the internet, information networks and the standards that enable their operation. These tools enable new business partnering opportunities and new operating practices that have the potential to accelerate business. This new environment puts a premium on the need for eliminating disruptions and requires better prepared personnel in order to deliver optimal results for the consumer.

In November 2006, P&G and Oracle joined Wegmans and Smuckers in a pilot focusing on the "Common Goals, Common Measures" piece of the New Ways of Working Together initiative. Many learnings have been captured from the pilot which wrapped up in June of 2007. These learnings have enabled a more specific description of New Ways of Working Together and the identification of clear Strategic Choices and Best Practices to support the delivery of business results.

This video was created at the beginning of the pilot program and accurately captures the spirit of New Ways of Working Together. It demonstrates what is possible when trading partners share their information and collaborate to focus on the consumer.
