With a slope of 170m, a rope tow and a travelator lift, Tamworth's Snowdome is a great place to learn how to ski, snowboard, or to practise ready for a holiday. Also available are bars, a restaurant, a skating rink, a snowy play area for children, a swimming pool and a boxing ring.

  • When did you actually last go there?

Take a clean board on and then check the base after 3 hours of boarding, have a guess as to what the black stuff is (and no, it isnt snow)

Actually I think the area at the top of the towrope is mainly used by snowboarders to try and avoid the skiiers who snake there way down from the top like lemmings.

  • @estanuk

It was a couple of months ago. I never noticed anything black on the snow so that's a puzzle.

I thought from seeing boarders at the top that it's a bit faster for them, somehow.

Coincidentally, I got some information from the Snowdome today with vouchers for reductions on different activities, including 3 hours of recreational skiing or boarding. You might be getting them around now also.

  • Hmm, Yeh.

With a slope of 170m of pure ice and tractor diesel, with snow so fucking slow you might aswell take your board off and walk, with a tow rope that stops every 2 minutes and has a maximum capacity of 4 people, the snowdome is indeed a fantastic place to get pissed off, and do some of the slowest boarding in your life!

Also available is a bar that will require you to take out a second mortgage to get a pint of beer.

  • I don't know what you mean about diesel. I didn't find the tow rope stopped and it had quite a few people on it at once.

There is an area for snowboarders at the top of the towrope. I thought that was because descending from the top was too fast for many.

  • Wow, that place sucks, compared to real mountains...

  • I will keep my eyes pealed for those!
