  • Nobody does Sherlock like Jeremy Brett. I love how close they stick to the actual books. Excellent Job Granada!!

  • personally I think the Holmes Cases in "Return" are even more interesting than the ones in "Adventures"...

  • @lollipopfop Hell hath plenty of fury greater than a woman scorned?

  • An excellent telling of this story. Granada polished up all of the Sherlock Holmes stories well, sometimes combining them when they were too short or had problems. I think Conan Doyle would have been proud of the conversion, this episode in particular. The longer stories were, I think, compressed too much to fit into a single timeslot but this story fit perfectly.

  • @lollipopfop Not all. I seem to remember one who exceeded even Holmes' intelligence and capabilities, and others (Second Stain, Red Circle) who were smarter than most of the male characters. To be fair to Sir Doyle, he put in more strong, intelligent women than most male authors of the era. It was to be 40 years before audiences were willing to accept a character like Catherine Gale as even possible and another 30 before they became common.

  • thanks!! he is a great dad, and my best friend..this one could be my favorite episode...

  • Not a time to call a woman a fool. . She knows him for what he was.

  • @wakeoftheflood2 An impressive dad! Would that all parents would interest their children like that. :) Instead of kids watching stuff like, Buffy and all that. :)

  • About propping the trap door: The beauty of Conan Doyles writing is that he had a firmer grasp of human behavior than even Freud. When you are consumed by your greed and high on the success of having solved your mind's passion Reason and Common Sense take flight. His survival isn't at stake just his ego. That is how mistakes get made and men get dead.

  • holmes's arm just coming up into the camera view holding up the piece of crown was quite bizarre :D

  • @lollipopfop Oh, shut UP, femminazi. And do your research.
