LFTR and MSR reactors can fix this. Yucca Mountain was taking the bury it and forget about it approach....... There is a lot of "humanity" involved in the decision process..........

4th generation reactors are in development that recycle spent fuel rods as they still retain roughly 95% of their energy. This reduces the quantity of waste that needs to be stored.
Only 3.3% of fresh water woudl be going to plant use vs 7.7% for residential and 80.6 for irrigation. (NEI)
2 lbs of uranium is enough to provide all the energy needs of a human being for 70 yrs. Enough to fill a soda can. Versus 500lbs of coal to fuel one home for a month.
Stop trying to fear monger people.

Under water deposition at the point of downward oceanic flow causes deposition that buries the containers (which are stringently tested you can see the videos here on youtube). Essentially the earth swallows these containers and the time that they would be unearthed would have reduced them to inert materials.
You seem to sidestep the fact that Yucca would solve current waste without any risk of ground water contamination. (it is in a desert for this very fact) As far as future waste

you could put it on the moon or put it on a rocket and launch it at the sun.

@pouceeter So 6000 degres Centigrade neutralizes radionuclides? Bullshit! Utter total bullshit!
-
Hydrogen plasma combustion reaching 6000C or higher temperatures burns safely any nuclear waste as such a combustion is the alternative to the nuclear energy production alone! The problem is that after such a fact and a confirmed efficient, easy to find and endless source as the water, who is going to control whom? Everyone will be energy independent. No dark big bosses any more!!!

Two words: The Moon.
No one likes a lazy moon. Doesn't even glow green or anything...let's change that! Together, we can do it!
How about stop producing something we cant control? Its common sense. Wake up its obviously not a good thing. We think we can destroy everything and not have any regrets? Unbelievabe, these people are supposed to be educated. They have made decisions for us and our future with no regard to the after effects.
