    On what fucking planet is DNF NOT LIKE COD? You have incredibly linear levels, limited weapons, regenerating health, use of cover actively, a limited inventory system, sections where you are boxed in fighting wave after wave of enemies, numerous instances of control taken away from you to watch a glorified gutscene. You want an example of old school done right? Serious Mother Fucking Sam 3. At least that game had secrets, and destructibility in the environment, and a main character true to form.

    Oh and I can code SOME things. So pretty much, I think I could recreate this trailer if I wanted to. But I just realized I'd have to do it in the HL2 engine because you don't have the option to place models wherever you want in GoldSource and I'm not a good enough coder to put it in. And even if I was, I dunno how to make an FGD. (Map editor data file)

    To some degree, you can. Someone made an RPG with source from scratch called Vindictus and it got on Steam. Anyway I think it would be pretty easy to use Source or Goldsource (Half-Life 2 or Half-Life 1 engine) to recreate the bits from the trailer. I know how to map and I'm learning how to model and I know how to animate, and I could probably just modify the textures although I'm not very good with art.

    Agreed.

    Though i think if you take Source with it's nice graphics the actual gameplay doesn't feel Duke at all, whereas with Build it does.

    But then again i might be wrong. Because if not mistaken, you really can do pretty much anything with Source if talented enough?

    Yeah, I just played that a while ago. But I think it would be cool to replicate the trailer in the HL1 engine so it wouldn't have to be stuck with the build engine's shitty visuals and gameplay.
