This video is from a joint performance with the Kariyushi Kai that took place in Chicago in 2004. Yotsutake is probably the most performed dance in Okinawa. It is considered onna odori and is generally performed by a group of dancers on festive occassions. The dancers wear the headdress which has virtually become the symbol of Okinawa, designed in the form of a red flower decorated with blue waves and brilliantly coloured bingata costumes. The large number of dancers and their vivid appearance make this one of the most visually captivating dances in the Okinawan repertoire.
