Here it is! I've had hundreds of requests for a tutorial on how I straighten my naturally curly hair with NO HEAT! No more split ends or dry, crispy burnt hair! Straighten it without damaging it! Most popular video on the internet!

Q: Will this work with a blowdryer?
A: NO. A fan is 20 times bigger around which is how it's able to dry the sides and top WHILE you are doing the bottom. It's drying all around your head! The nozzle on a blowdryer is just too small to do this technique. It only dries what you aim it at, and the airflow is too strong. A fan provides gentler, wider airflow and is just enough to dry your hair gently without blowing it all over the place and causing tangles and frizzyness. Also, it won't work with a mini fan or a huge, powerful fan. You *MUST* use a regular, med-sized house fan that does not blow like a wind tunnel!

Q: Is brushing wet hair damaging?
A: With a regular, thick bristled brush, yes. With a paddle brush, no.
Ever noticed hairdressers will take a big, round, thick bristled brush + a blowdryer and dry your hair in sections? I always hated this, because it breaks your hair off and when they put the blowdryer close to your hair, they are burning it!

Q: 20 minutes to dry your hair with a fan?
A: YEAH! Better than 40 minutes to dry my hair with a blowdryer! Using a blowdryer turns my hair into a great, big frizzball.

Q: is your hair naturally straight?
A: Nooooooo, it's curly! But, this method works for any hair type really.

Q: Why a paddle brush, and not a regular brush?
A: The difference is easy to see. A paddle brush has wide, spaced out teeth with protective balls on the ends that allow hair to slip right through.

Q: Wanna hear a story?
A: When I used to go to the hairdresser, they washed & conditioned my hair, then.... they would get out a blowdryer and a big, round, boar bristled brush and start drying it, section by section. Uggghhh, I hated this!! They put the blowdryer right on my hair and continue running the brush thru my hair, breaking off little pieces, and burning it! They could never get it straight, and it turned into a big frizzball! I know it is typical to use a blowdryer + big round brush at hair salons, but with my hair, this is a big NO-NO! It's damaging to your hair! I have even had hairdressers ask me how I got my hair straight and so silky. Well lady, I stay away from blowdryers and big, round brushes! That's how!

Q: Do you ever use heat styling tools?
A: Yes, but not every day! Now and then...

Q: I tried this and it didn't work!
A: Keep trying or give up... not everyone is naturally inclined to excel in hairstyling. This method is unconventional, but it works for me, and has worked for tons of women who tried it. Read the comments!

Q: Why don't you just use a blowdryer?
A: Because the more heat you use on your hair, the more damaging it is! The less heat, the healthier your hair will be! Healthy hair = longer, stronger, shinier hair!

Q: Why not use a blowdryer on cool?
A: I've already answered this in the first question. The trick is the technique. NOT merely blowing cool air at you. It's easier and faster! If you want to use a blowdryer on cool, you still have to section it out, and well... your arms will probably fall off before you finish. With my method, I guarantee you will get smoother, straighter results.

Q: How does this work exactly?
A: The reason why it works, is because you are manipulating the hair to "straighten" by holding the hair taut while allowing the gentle, cool flow of air to dry your hair without excessive force, keeping it smooth and controlled. Like, when I comb the sides back and clip them.... the hair stays straight and dries straight too. It's elementary my dear watson!

Q: Won't I get sick?
A: This is a myth. Unless your room is freezing cold (I have central heat & air) you are not going to get sick, nor would you get sick getting out of a swimming pool with wet hair. A fan does not blow COLD or HOT air. It circulates the air in the room you are in! I've never gotten sick.

Q: Do you do this every day?
A: Yes, I did when I grew my hair long. It grew over a foot long. It's ok to do it every day or whenever you wash your hair. But I no longer do this every day, because I like my hair wavy. But I'm using a paddle brush, so my hair slips thru it, and isn't pulling it out like a regular brush would.

* I made an updated version of this video. Please watch it!

All you need is:
- A regular fan
- Garnier hair putty *this is optional* (it's only to tame those little hairs from sticking out - DO NOT PUT IT ALL OVER UR HAIR)
- Wide tooth comb
- Hair Clip
- Paddle brush (I use a Brush Strokes #217506)

Try it and you'll see! Practice makes perfect.

  • Basicly... brush your hair slowly while it dries?

  • @RedHotSinging Pretty much.

  • Um... Your hair isnt even properly curly, of course it would go straight by blowdrying and combing, your method doesnt work with ACTUAL curly hair...

  • @Trucy97 My hair IS curly, and it doesn't MATTER if your hair is curly or straight. It works for everyone. How can you say it doesn't work, when I just did it right in FRONT of you, lol.

  • @bambiieyz if my hair was as straight as yours is naturally, I wouldn't need to straighten it. You have no idea what its like to be cursed with CURLY hair!! when I get out of the shower it looks like I just went and got a perm with bouncing curls and it sucks!!!

  • @jonathonpratt51 I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE CURLY HAIR?? DID YOU HEAR THIS GUY? LOL!!! HE HASN'T SEEN MY CURLY HAIR PICS, HAS HE GIRLS??

  • @brittn2112 Heat protectant does NOT protect hair 100% from heat as you may think... you are still damaging hair using heat. Just like using SPF does not protect your skin 100% from the sun... you can still get a sunburn or tan.

  • @TheBrandiBauer Sorry, are you going to ground me?

  • Would this work with my shoulder length hair? Since your hair is super long, it might weigh it down more which would make it straighter, but would my hair be a bit puffy still since it's not super long? D:
