@stevenrmc That's not a Water Buffalo, that's a Gaur, and even adult Gaur get eaten by Tigers. Water Buffalo also get killed by Tigers, even the adults.

Tigers may kill weak ones, and are known to take females and calves . . . but a 3,000 lb bull is another story.  Moreover, Indian water buffalo are known to hunt down tigers and gore them.

I fail to believe encounters allways happens as onesidetly as showed here. Usually there´s more than one lion to take down a big cape buffalo, can take a smaller one down alone by attacking their defenceless bags thou but there´s allways a high risk that you would end up lying on the top of their heads and then being pushed several feets up the air and getting gored. I definetely think there´re cases where tigers has died a slow death from internal injuries after an attempt to kill a big gaur.
