Any idea on how to get the sound back to working on ubuntu 10.10 for zynaddsubfx? It worked mere hours ago while I was on 10.04 but after the upgrade, no sound at all. If you could please show how to fix this then I would love you forever

Where do you get that start up sound?

Search for Assassins creed 2 Ezio's family soundtrack.
My startup:) from 0.00 to 1.08...

How can i make the start up sound last longer? I want it to play for 30 seconds

thanks for the upload. although i found it way easier just to rename the new sound desktop login and delete the old sound.

@mentex70 Now, did you try the part in the vid, where I go to properties-permissons and select ''read and write''?

Oh and I have Lil' Jon saying "Yeahhhh" when I get a message on empathy. I took a sound clip of Lil' Jon saying that, converted it with audacity, and moved it/replace "/usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo/message-new-instant.ogg". I always forget that I replaced that so I'll be doing something and all of a sudden Lil' Jon is shouting at me from my pc...it scares the hell out of me everytime lol

Thanks for a couple good tips: how to run Nautilus in su mode, as well as how to set the login sound. I think you may need to do both the copying and the pasting of the file within the same Nautilus session launched by the "sudo nautilus" command. Alternatively, since you are already running commands in a terminal, it may be faster to just type:
sudo cp [path and file name of ogg file] /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo
You can use tab complete to help finish each subdirectory name.

@bmw328driver Great comment. The way I show it is a bit easier for new Linux users. Just so they don't get all frightened about all the terminal commands - As I've said before: there's a hundred different ways to do stuff in Linux. So its great, that you tell another way lol. Cheers mate!
