Do you favor valley hikes? Do you like waterfalls? Or are you the sure footed hiker who loves ridge walking? Look no further! Ka'au Crater has all three on just one hike! First you start off in the lush green Palolo Valley, then climb up the crater via a set of three beautiful waterfalls that in my opinion are the best on the island. What other trail makes you climb up the waterfalls? Once past the 3rd waterfall, you gain the rim of Ka'au Crater, then traverse the eastern rim to the Ko'olau Summit. Out of the west and east rims, the eastern rim is the most dangerous with steep and SLIPPERY climbs to the summit. On this day, we did it all........... in soaking rains!
