Our legacy demonstrates that Omega men have been leaders in science, medicine, technology, innovation and academia.

Our challenge is to continue to work and uplift humanity. Throughout the year, Omega chapters will mentor youth, sponsor blood drives, raise money for scholarships and charitable causes and start initiatives that encourage our Brothers to make a difference in the lives of Black people.

Our Fraternity is accustomed to leading the way; let's continue to make Omega the beacon of courage and leadership in all things we do.

Fraternally,

Brother Warren G. Lee Jr.

38th Grand Basileus

Omega Psi Phi (ΩΨΦ) is a national fraternity, and was the first black national fraternal organization to be founded at a historically black college. Omega Psi Phi was the second African-American fraternity chartered at Howard University. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity's Beta chapter was chartered at Howard University on December 20th 1907.Omega Psi Phi was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University in Washington, D.C

On Friday evening, November 17, 1911, three Howard University undergraduate students, with the assistance of their faculty adviser, gave birth to the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. This event occurred in the office of biology Professor Ernest E. Just, the faculty adviser, in the Science Hall (now known as Thirkield Hall). The three liberal arts students were Edgar A. Love, Oscar J. Cooper and Frank Coleman. From the initials of the Greek phrase meaning "friendship is essential to the soul," the name Omega Psi Phi was derived. The phrase was selected as the motto. Manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift were adopted as cardinal principles. A decision was made regarding the design for the pin and emblem, and thus ended the first meeting of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity .

From its inception, the fraternity has worked to build a strong and effective force of men dedicated to its Cardinal Principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift. In 1927, at the urging of fraternity member Carter G. Woodson, the fraternity made National Negro Achievement Week an annual observance, and it continues today as Black History Month.

Since 1945, the fraternity has undertaken a National Social Action Program to meet the needs of African Americans in the areas of health, housing, civil rights, and education. Omega Psi Phi has been a patron of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) since 1955, provides an annual gift of $50,000 to the program. Omega Psi Phi is also a National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) member.

  • We in Omega Psi Phi r Dawgs because of our dogmatic determination to "see it through" - We're Omega men because of all that we contribute to society. EVERY life in this country has been directly or indirectly impacted by a member of Omega Psi Phi. People know that we play hard!!!! But in real life, we work even harder!!!!

  • @foreverflylove We do realize it and that's why we do what we do. Our aim is to uplift and inspire our people....constantly encourging each other to think better, be better and do better. It all starts with our men: We have to take responsibility for ourselves, our children and our women. I know we like to show our wild side but understand, we are all educated men looking to constantly improve everything about us and our people. ROO to my bruhs...
