title says it all. this mod (Europa Barbarorum for Rome Total War) takes historical accuracy even to the micro level seen here in an example of hoplite to hoplite warfare. many more where that came from ;)

  • Why don't they ever show hoplites staying in a tight-locked phalanx formation???????

  • @memphisdarkwolf ...because try staying in a tight locked phalanx you disciplined soldier you, when both phalanxes are deeply engaged.

  • @6rasta6bhoy6 But hoplites keeping phalanx formation is historically accurate, whereas this isn't. Example: there are records of some hoplites taking to bloodlust on the battlefield and killing a whole bunch of men, then after the battle, they're demoted and punished for breaking the phalanx because when the individual soldier left his place in the phalanx, it would endanger not only himself, but the entire formation of men as well.

  • @memphisdarkwolf in case you don't know, this is a game/computer simulation. any concerns you have on historical accuracies and inacucracies, you may forward to them and quit wasting my time. i did not make this shit.

  • nice mode, and finally the spears are held up as they should,im glad someone got that right for once

  • @extrememark13 simple "hack" my friend discovered was that you could just put the unit on 'defensive' mode and they will stay in formation. applies to most units i think. they stay in formation and move really really slow but for the video's sake i was trying to simulate charging phalanxes ...which was what happened most of the time when greeks fought greeks ;)

  • @memphisdarkwolf at the beginning they didnt created a phalanx mode for the hoplites (i dont know why).later they created a patch that fixes this error and allows the hoplites to create phalanx formation.to the units information they says that hoplites are at their best in phalanx formation but at the beggining they couldnt create phalanx.

  • thing is in hoplite warfare battles were really short and bloody. usually the army who could maintain the phalanx formation would win. thats why spartans used to win most battles, they had the best discipline and they didnt break formation.

as for dead, usually 10 out 100 people.

  • @6rasta6bhoy6 I understand that this is a simulation, and i'm also sorry if i got you upset/angy or offended you in any way because, i didn't mean to. Sorry

  • It does what it promises
