Are Oakland police turning Oakland into a battlefield?

Over the weekend hundreds gathered to help support the Occupy Oakland movement. Saturday which was dubbed "move in day" was an attempt by protesters to take the Henry J Kaiser center, an abandon community center, to use as the movements headquarters. During the weekend approximately 400 people were arrested and the mayor of Oakland is asking for OWS to disown the Oakland branch due to their radical behavior. As of now a lot of other occupy camps are in solidarity with Occupy Oakland and Jessica Hollie, Occupy Oakland blogger, joins us for a first hand account of what went down in Oakland.

Oakland has been a police state for a long time. In the 60's they would go after people with wood riot sticks and split heads.

I think theres going to be a breaking point at Oakland. Right now the city is like a powder keg. Maybe some dumb cop will shoot a protestor, or a group of enraged protestors will kill a cop. But whatever it is, its gonna open the floodgates. And when it does, someones gonna get their ass kicked.

Maybe the protestors will storm the police station, or maybe the cops will call in the National Guard and end Occupy Oakland for good. But whatever the outcome...it ain't gonna be pretty

yay so happy im not in the usa now. My only wish is for americans to be more humble and with less ego. No matter which side, americans always think they are right. THe police are viewed as the enemies and yes they are assholes but hell they are americans too. The way police act is a reflection of society. I live in Japan and police are nice here because the people are nice and crime is low. just my tidbit of observation.
