Jimthemedic has it right, alcohol and peroxide are cytotoxic (they kill healthy cells, which isn't what you want to do in a wound). The best way to clean a wound is with clean water under some pressure (punch a couple of small holes in the cap of a 21 oz poland spring water bottle and squeeze). If you really need disinfectant -- e.g., wound is packed with dirty organic material -- diluted providone-iodine is much better.

Let me clarify: It reduces the ability for a wound to recover because it's too agressive for the damaged flesh.

It doesn't damage your skin. They are sanitary, so that doesn't make any sense.

And a set of inspection gloves and a face mask would be a good idea to, you may have to help out someone and you never know where they are HIV positive or a Hepatitis carrier, also a face shield is a must in case you have to give CPR/Mouth to mouth

don't use hydrogen peroxide!! It damages your skin. Get Povidone-Iodine (Betadine) instead. Also you don't need that alcohol..a bottle of clean water comes in much handier..
