Now it's time for me to show you guys how to use the portacable polisher and our new polishes. When i am using the polisher, I like to use an apron, I'll tell you why. First of all, it's a great place to keep your polishes. Second, It's also a fantastic way for you to keep your cord over your shoulder. Now, Show you how. First of all, This is our detail bag. I like to keep our Portacable polishes inside. Now, this is a two-sided pad which is affixed to the polisher with an adapter. That keeps the polisher always throwing a perfectly centered pad. Now, when it comes to a Portacable, this is probably the most popular polishing machine in the industry. It has an orbital setting that does 1000 to 6000 OPM, thats an oscilation per minute. Now, I like to start it off at around 3000 opm. Now, the black and white pads are color-coded to the polishes. The white pad used with fine machine polish, which is exclusively made to be used with that pad, So it's a staining product very easy to use. And then, the grey pad is to be used with our machine superwax. So, it's kinda hard to mess up the colors, we like to keep things simple, so it's one more attempt for us to make things right. Now, just so you can understand this, if i was to turn this all the way up to 6000 opm and turn it on, I can hold it. You're not building up heat, Ok? you're just oscilating, so its just doing this times however many thousand what you have your setting. Again, i start mine at 3000. This car has some serious scroll marks, so im going to go ahead and use the white pad first to eliminate those. Now if your car has really serious problems. major scratch marks, massive oxidation, if you have a boat or RV, we also have one more pad. This is the green and orange pad. The green is the most aggressive, followed by the orange, then white, finally black. So we understand that this is a pad that has been used for really messed up stuff that you cannot fix with the other two pads. Im going to start now on the ferarri with the machine polish on the white pad, and im going to do a test spot. Why do a test spot? I wanna do a test spot because i Wanna sure that what im about to do is going to be very effective and im going to get all the scroll marks out, and i don't want to be overkill or underkill. So before i finish the whole car, i really just want to make sure i have a great little area perfect. Now, first i'll have to mix around the polish a bit, the kicker is to move very slowly with the polisher, thats how you get the most effective throw on the polisher and the most effective polish and shine. And now you go one way, then the opposite way. When i go to stop the polisher, if i stop at one place, i'll have a big slobby messy of polish on there. If as i'm stopping, i continue moving the polisher, i keep the polish nice and thin and you're not going to have a mess that's difficult to remove.

  • I'm really glad they don't use the double sided pads anymore. I had the same kind of thing, and it broke, ended up having to cut the pad off the adapter. Hook and Loop is the way to go.
