Now that Eric Holder has appointed John Durham as special prosecutor to investigate the past administration's use of torture, the question is how high up the Chain-of-Command will accountability go and will the nation finally see Dick Cheney, David Addington, George Tenet, and Donald Rumsfeld finally have to face the music for the war crimes they committed. The following is a brief biography on John Durham from the LA TIMES:

Age: 59

Position: First assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Current portfolio: Tapped by Bush administration Atty. Gen. Michael B. Mukasey in January 2008 to investigate the CIA in the 2005 destruction of interrogation videotapes. He serves as acting U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia for the purposes of that matter. Durham "is a widely respected and experienced career prosecutor who has supervised a wide range of complex investigations in the past," Mukasey said.

Background: A 30-plus-year veteran of the Justice Department, he has won praise for being one of the nation's most relentless prosecutors. Durham was appointed in 1999 by then-U.S. Atty. Gen. Janet Reno to investigate whether FBI agents and police officers in Boston for three decades were working with organized crime, an inquiry that led to numerous convictions of public officials and charges of misconduct and influence peddling.

He also evaluated, prepared and prosecuted major racketeering cases directed at the Gambino, Genovese and Patriarca crime families in Connecticut.

  • It'll go nowhere....Durham?....please don't insult my intelligence!

  • If the republicans can spend $80,000,000.00 investigating Clintons sex life. How can we ignore the bush cheney led criminal enterprise. Illegal war, torture, domestic spying on Democrats, outing a CIA agent, Haliburton corruption and embezzlement, firing US attorneys for investigating republican corruption. Why do we have to protect bush and cheney?

  • even this prosecuter seems to be restricting his investigation to just low lvl offenders that went outside the ileagal torture recomendations sent from the justice department not after the higher ups.

  • War Crimes

  • Sounds like Jack Bauer was in on this. We love Jack Bauer. Make it look like hard core torture to the supposed terrorists but don't actually cut off limbs and/or kill relatives. The best thing FOX ever did was 24.

PEOPLE NEED TO GET IT STRAIGHT: CHENEY WAS AND IS SENATOR & EMPEROR PALPATINE, NOT DARTH VADER. BUSH, AS DUMB AS HE WAS SEEMED TO BE DARTH VADER. DEPSITE THE FACT THAT BUSH COULD NEVER BE A JEDI KNIGHT. HE WAS MORE LIKE JABBA THE HUT, LIKE ROGER AILES. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
