Noam Chomsky: Obama's Stance on Gaza Crisis "Approximately the Bush Position"

In a visit to the State Department Thursday, President Obama made his first substantive comments on the Middle East conflict since Israel’s attack on Gaza. Obama first mentioned his commitment to Israel’s security, without affirming his commitment to Palestinian security. He condemned Palestinian rocket attacks on southern Israeli towns, but didn’t criticize the US-backed Israeli bombings of densely populated Gaza. But in a departure from the Bush administration, Obama acknowledged Palestinian suffering and said Gaza’s borders should be opened to aid. We speak with MIT professor, Noam Chomsky. • israel defending themselves by killing innocent civilian people???????

obama has been defending a criminal jewish nation. what about the white slave trade, and child pornography industry which is a multi- billion dollar business in israel.??? does obama know anything about these criminal activities?????

obama needs to open his eyes a little bit wider. he's being guided by pure deception.

  • The crimes against the indigenous Palestinian people wont stop with this doublespeak. The same entity thats wreaking havoc across the globe, is the same that continues its persecution of these people.

I'm not a Muslim, but the an apartheid regime such as we see in the Israeli Zionist state, shouldn't be tolerated.

& before any of you aspirers to Zionism call me anti-semetic, you should know that the Palestinian people have more of a claim to being semitic that these racist European Ashkanazis

  • Obongo, like Bush is a Jew. His mammy was a Jew slut named Stanley Ann Dunham. His pappy was a Koonyan and Obongo was born in Koonya! He is NOT our president; he is an usurper!

  • I agree with you there. i don't support the Occupation of Afghanistan at all. But the truth is that this is not Obama's decision. It is the decision of the people above him. There are many people in power above the president in our country. The only reason why we went to Afghanistan in the first place is because the Taliban were burning their own Poppy fields so that we couldn't exploit them. All of the drug lords in America pressured our gov't to stop this from happening. Opium would be gone.

  • No, he is Black Arab. He's the descendant of Black Arab slave owners. Blacks of Arab descent often times rule over Blacks of Sub-Saharan descent (such as in Sudan right now). Just because there isn't a large ammount in Kenya doesn't mean he's not. From what I've heard, he is of Black Arab descent on his father's side. The notion of Arab descent in African culture is often times confusing, but it's very existant.

  • Right now is a complicated time. I don't live in Iran, I live in America..so I can't say I know exactly what it's like. I support Mousavi and all of his supporters against Ahmadinejad and the Islamic Republic. Obama supports the opposition, and this is a beautiful thing..because it's necessary for a Free Iran. As for his threats against Iran, we have Ahmadinejad to thank for that. yes, it is our right to enrich Uranium..but it is the UN/IAEA right to regulate us. The republic is childish.

  • Well that happened during the Lame duck period. And I'm fairly certain that he denounced it before his ceremony. Most US officials did, it was only Condi and others in the Bush administration who prevented the UN from stopping Israel. Fucking bitch.

  • No, but his administration has ordered Israel to end the settlements and Netanyahu defied them. Bush never did that. This is a first huge step. I think once Israel stops being ridiculous about East Jerusalem and the West Bank settlements (if they ever do), a Palestinian state will be created. Obama wants it for sure.

  • And on Iraq, I have the impression that his 'withdrawal' promises are more of a re-missioning plan. He wants to take out much of the troops there (partly because they're needed for his escalation of the war in Afg.), but I'm not certain the US actually ever intends to leave Iraq (they're already building the 'semi-permanent bases' for the.. erm.. 'semi-permanent' occupation of Iraq)
