The secret in the first Tomb Raider which is behind a movable block near the Cistern silver key entrances, is completely unreachable on the Saturn version of the game. The level designers left a brick wall between the secret and the movable block! The final statistics show 2 out of 3 secrets found, even though there obviously isn't a third secret. The Saturn version was rushed, Sega set up a deal with Core so that the Saturn version would be released three months before the PS and PC version. It backfired on them because the Saturn version has the most bugs, the most glitches and the worst graphics out of the versions available. I imagine Core must have took some shortcuts while trying to meet Sega's deadline, so maybe they didn't have time to make the final secret, and forgot to remove the number from the stats.

**UPDATE**
The bug is only present in the PAL version.

  • I got another confirmation that the bug is not in the USA version. I updated the video info with that.

  • I just tried this level at home. I got to the secret twice. Once with the water level raised like it was in this video and once with the water level low. It worked both times no problem. I simply moved the block and behind the wall and there was a ledge with items on it with a slope on the opposite side. I don't know whats wrong with yours but mine works perfectly. Saturn Tomb Raider rocks!

  • You probably have the NTSC (USA) version of the game? Maybe the bug appears only in the PAL (European) version of the game. That's the only explanation I can think of. Or maybe they released a new version of the game when they noticed the bug.

  • wow, the graphics are worse on the sega saturn version, especialy the save crystals!

  • I believe it's purely because the Saturn version was rushed out so that Sega could have this game first.

  • @karri2 A little late but actually that's not the reason it due to how 3d was handled by the Saturn

  • @Evilmonkey66699 Probably that too, but Core wasn't really happy with the result as far as I know. Tomb Raider for Saturn feels like a demo, there are lots of bugs, the sounds weren't finished, it's just not polished like the PS version.

  • There's also a part on the Collosseum where you push a block, pull a lever (which opens a large door at the emperor's chambers) and you think you're set. On the Saturn version, you have to re-pull the block out, and get in and find a key. On the PSOne version, the key is in plan sight. Screw the PSOne for that.

  • OMG so that was a BUG i´ve never known why i couldn´t get that secret...i knew that there was a secret but the fuc*** wall dind´t let me pass xD

  • Another funny glitch i remember was, I think it may have been on this level, you have to fight a bloke (I think he's a bounty hunter) THEN you pull a switch that raises the water in that room. I managed to pull the switch before fighting the guy and, when I returned to the room, whilst I was swimming about, the guy was walking around underneath the water still waiting for me.

Very funny. good memories. This game may have had glitches, but it was still damn fun to play.

  • hi I'm from germany in Europe :D

ich have the game too on the Saturn ^^

it's one of the best games i ever played :D

but on the PC or the PS one is the game better i think

  • No, I don't know what version of the PSX game you're playing, but I find exactly the reverse to be true. The Saturn version looks a little sharper, but suffers from bad framerates.

  • Yes, I can confirm that the secret is there in the US version. In fact, I was gonna show my brother the bug (I have seen this some time ago), and to our surprise it revealed the room! So yes, the US version works fine. :)

  • I spent almost 1 hour trying to find the "secret of this secret":p

Then I serched on the internet for some useful information and I read the there was a bug in the Saturn version:)
