In Kenya marriages are solemnized under different statutes and customs. But now the proposed marriage bill seeks to set guidelines for the institution. Though still at the draft stage, debate is certainly bound to arise from the bill which if enacted and signed into law, will among other things, legalize polygamy and water down the importance of dowry. Willis Raburu has more.
I AM SO SHOCKED THAT IN THE 21ST CENTURY KENYAN WOMEN (while seeking equality) WOULD ALLOW THEMSELVES TO BE HUDDLED IN ONE UNION AS WIVES OF ONE MAN.
And even more surprising is that Kenya's well educated women are increasingly accepting to be married as a 2nd, 3rd or even 4th wife.
I need help to understand what has gone wrong - this is counter-intuitive.
