I have a similar problem. I just bought my Mac a week ago and this happened after only the 3rd time I turned it on. However, since then it has been fine. I am not sure if I should try to exchange it for a new one or just keep it.

Probably it's a NVIDIA issue. Check support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
Contact Apple for a free repair.
