nobody did it quite like Coltrane. But Goodman started well before Coltrane,and played nothing like him. Of course Benny Goodman led one of the first integrated bands so he must have sucked huh?

it's improvisation. it's jazz.

Got the jazz casual video as a B-Day present, this piece in particular has influenced my playing of sax, drums, and most of all piano a lot. Not only is it fun, but everyone loves that bold progression of 5ths under the melody. Works well for Impressions too. And yeah, Tyner is definitely just about to ring Ralph Gleason's neck (can't stand the pipe and pull over, he looks like those cheesy actors from 1950s suburban life ads).

I love the feeling this song gives out.
