The end of the fossil fuel era will come quite abruptly and will lead to a very painful collapse of civilization. Only a minor part of the population will understand that this collapse is imposed by nature and declining resources. The others will believe that peak oil is a conspiracy, a political agenda of ecologists or greedy elites. It will be very difficult to survive in this time of scarcity and social unrest. Aggression will be everywhere. Be prepared, we are almost there.

I am a loner. I like the books The Outsider 1 and 2 by Colin Wilson and Steppenwolf. I also have a book on Solitude and another book Party of One. These are my "Bibles." I feel that most people are just rude and arrogant and inconsiderate. I'd rather be alone or with my significant other.

In hindsight we could very well say that ourl life with petroleum was a fantasy. Today the term is unsustainable.

If you take into account the inflation of the dollar for the next 5 years, a tank of gas should be about 5000$. gold is already 1200$ and by about 2012 oil will skyrocket too

Oil has given humanity more than its decline could ever take away (abeit much avoidable suffering) and was a necassary stepping stone. Yes, the transition to a new age whatever form it takes, will be the greatest challenge mankind will ever face. Its easy to let peak oil and climate change drag you down but fuck that. I feel so lucky to be alive in these exciting times. Its no exageration to say that the next 20 years will define the next 2000 and we both have a chance to shape it ;-)...

I think that you are correct. But, where I live people aspire to own a SUV. Large SUVs are like a status symbol for some. Usually, I see them with one driver and dark tinted windows. Gasoline is $2.45 a gallon. Certainly, I think it should be more like $4.00 a gallon. This would change peoples attitude.
3:42 I don't think there is any way humans are suppose to live.
