This is the traditional sailors' shanty Maggie Maggie May and should not be confused with any other song of a similar name such as the one Rod Stewart made famous. As with many shanties, this has a close relationship with Liverpool, the action being set there. Always a fun song to sing and join in with, the best version of it I have heard is sung by The Spinners, appropriately enough, they hailing from Liverpool.
