A 46 mile run with over 11,000 feet of elevation gain. This is one of those bucketlist runs for ultra marathoners and it was a great first experience to see the Grand Canyon.

nope! I'm always worried of that though. I think they aren't really out in November but I've heard there are tons down there!

When would you say is the best time of the year for an attempt to run from rim to rim?

around this time: early November. There wasn't snow at the top of the rims yet and on the bottom it only got up to about 70 in the sun (except a 30-40 degree difference as the day goes on from the top to bottom)

thanks! yeah, the was my first gopro use.
Sounds like a tough ultra - but the sand will save your legs. Shouldn't be any worse than a road marathon (should be better). I usually would take a day or two off after and then on the 3rd day be feeling decent for a short run.

Great video! R2R2R may be the best (not necessarily most fun) solo run I ever did. About "when" to do it: NOT in early September, I almost spontaneously combusted...multiple hours of >100F at the bottom. About "fear of heights": I am petrified of heights, and it was a total non-issue. Not sure why. To everyone considering it: JUST DO IT!
