James Taylor's original is great, but Richie Havens does one fine cover. A truly wonderful artist, Richie gave the opening performance at Woodstock over 40 years ago, and he's still going strong. He's always touring, so you may have the chance to see this living legend play in person. You won't be disappointed.
Even better then the original.

My mistake. This song is not even on 'Tapestry', You are correct and I have confused this one with 'you got a friend'

I am sorry to disappoint you 151edwin, BUT James Taylor "wrote this in 1968 at 3 different times. He started it in London, where he auditioned for The Beatles' Apple Records. He later worked on it in a Manhattan Hospital, and finished it while in drug rehab at The Austin Riggs Center in Massachusetts." I think you are mistaking this one for "You've got a friend: which was on tapestryand written by Carole King and later covered \by James Taylor

What album is this version from? I love it but can't find it to download anywhere. It doesn't seem to be the one from The Cellar Door/Santa Monica Civic Auditiorium album...
