A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum-Running scene

Niagara Falls Highschool put on the musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum on March 24tgh, 25th, and 31st and after seeing it on the 25th I decided "okay, next time, I'm totally taping some of this" due to its absolute ridiculousness!
This is my absolute favourite scene in the entire musical because it's so random! Again, another Project Runway in there too.

Nothing worse than trying to ad-lib on an already great script. It's an insult to the playwrite. It's never as funny as you think it is. And in this case it wasn't funny at all.

That is your opinion and you are welcome to it. I, personally, think it was very funny- as did many of the audience members, clearly, from the laughter heard in the clip. But thank you for your thoughts.

I'm not crazy about the Fiddler reference either (and I'm not calling it an "ad-lib" because it was clearly planned for - the pit had the music ready for it.) However, it's worth pointing out that particular musical has historically been a "forum" (pun intended) for ad-libbing. Zero Mostel did (reportedly to the delight of audiences and aggravation of the script writers and fellow company members) and so did Nathan Lane (with more generosity toward the rest of the cast. Again, reportedly.)

It's just a highschool musical! no need to give such harsh criticism for people under the age of 18 putting on the show! And so what if the adlibs are tasteless, isn't the point to make the audience laugh? It's what he did and he did it well through the entire show. I don't appreciate the point of view you're using on these clips.

Productions always try to have an entire chorus of extras instead of 3 Proteans (as written), and it never works as well. And the FIDDLER adlib is completely incongruous and tasteless. As Senex would say, "Shame, shame, shame."
