We delve into the assessment, treatment, and care of burns (mainly first degree in this segment). CORRECTION: When you depress the skin and it DOESN'T blanch (turn white) that is indicative of a more complicated second degree burn.

  • I find Silvadene works miracles.

  • Next time you burn yourself when cooking - IMMEDIATELY hold the burnt part near the heat source, for as long as you can stand it (at least a full minute - up to 2 minutes). The area will be a bit sore afterwards, but there will be no blistering and the pain will subside noticeably, quickly over the next few hours.

  • con't

Chefs did this for 100's of yrs. I learned this when studying Homeopathy (I'm a homepath). At 1st, I thought it was CRAZY. But when I got the Aga & was 1st learning to cook on it, I burned myself many times. Once I absentmindedly picked up a pan by the hot handle. The oven was @ about 450f! So it would have been a 2nd degree burn. Held my hand near the heat - no blistering whatsoever - healed in a day. It hurts like hell at first, but heals quickly w/ no scarring.

  • Would you be willing to consider a very old treatment for burns? This will go against everything you've been taught about 1st and 2nd degree burns, but the fact remains - it works.

I have an Aga (google it & u'll see what I mean). I've burned myself many times on it. When that happens, I hold my burnt hand as close as possible to the heat - for as long as I can stand the pain. I never develop a blister and the burn is healed within 24 hours. con't
