It was on in my area (the Tri-Valley in CA) on a PBS station at around 7:30 am or so (it might have been KICU TV36). Before it started, it would say, "The Adventures of The Little Prince is made possible by charitable donations like yours for excellence in family broadcasting on this and other PBS stations."

I loved this cartoon and the others on Nick at the time, thanks for posting!

@Nickrj3 This was shown on Nickelodeon in the 1980s along with Belle & Sebastian and The Cities of Gold... usually on Sunday mornings.

I'm pretty sure this was on Nickelodeon when I was a kid.
I recently read the book with my daughter and then we watched the movie. Good quality time with the kids.

The theme song needs to be longer! I love this intro! The Little Prince, from outer space can catch shooting star and SAIL AWAY! Perhaps some day, he'll come your WAY!!!!

@Nickrj3 This show was on weekdays from what I remember.
I first discovered this on TV by accident in the fall of 1983 just after I'd turned 15.
I had been given the book by my grandmother three years earlier, and it instantly became a regular Saturday morning ritual for me. I was like, "WOW! They really did him justice!" :)

@CaptainGoofysstash This was on Saturday Mornings before Nickelodeon? What network and when?

Ok. I have a question. Do you think this cartoon would've made as a saturday morning show or on PBS like Today's Special did there?

Is this Katie Leigh (Connie Kendall from Adventures In Odyssey) voicing the Little Prince here? Sure sounds like her. :)
Incidentally the character designs for this anime were done by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko - who also did the designs for Mobile Suit Gundam a year later (Little Prince first aired in Japan in 1978).
