Rabbit Control Leicester (golf course)

Night time is best for this to avoid alarming golfers and the general public - some of who complain even though they trespass by walking elsewhere than a well posted footpath or bridleway. All of the rabbits shot during the making of this clip were given to elderly friends. After paunching them they are hung from the rear of the vehicle to cool and allow fleas to drop off before bagging. As some of the location is unsuitable for rimfire or centrefire rifles an air rifle was used on this occasion, and the only place I shoot them with that is in the head to ensure a humane kill takes place. If you are wondering why this clip is easier to see than the other night clips in this series it's because all shots with the air rifle are less than 50 yards away so the headlighting is better for the Camcorder.

The set up allows a good shot. By driving, I am perfectly relaxed with my upper body nestled back into the drivers seat, shooting arm over the edge of the door, with the rifle stock resting on a piece of foam pushed into the gap in the mirror bracket. My left hand guides and adjusts the butt of the rifle into my shoulder. All I do is fine tune my aim and squeeze the trigger. The closing scene shows the rifle pointing into the area lit by the headlight beam. My best night was 93 rabbits.
