By the end of the lesson you should be able to describe the heart, lungs and circulatory systems:
2.1 Identify the location and purpose of the major organs.
2.2 Describe the basic structure of the heart as having four chambers and valves and how blood is pumped and collected.
2.3 Identify the basic structure and operation of the lungs explaining the process of gaseous exchange.
2.4 Describe the vascular network and how it interconnects & the links to heart, lungs and muscles.
2.5 Describe the circulatory system.
2.6 Explain blood pressure and the effects of exercise upon it.
2.7 Identify the different heart rate zones in line with current ACSM guidelines.
2.8 Explain different ways of monitoring exercise intensity.
2.9 Describe the short and long term effects of exercise on the heart, lungs & circulatory system.
