The T-11 is so great that a student at Jumpmaster School got sucked out of the plane when the ripchord protective flap got ripped off by the wind and deployed his reserved and another soldier burned in on a JFEX and was considered an acceptable loss (I was on the same bird as him). Go 82d ABN,,,

Like why do they still use round shoots?
-
yeahhh.... um. SOF tested these but we dont use them. i wonder why.

@sablatnic 1 fatality. Officially those two were unrelated. T 11 has completely different deploying system. T-10 are far more reliable at this point.

@USArmyPEOSoldier Yea, they also TELL you that it's always 5 knot wind ;)

I didn't jump the T11 during AB school, after the death of the jumper with the T11 at Ft Bragg they only jumped us from the T10D. Even in our unit jumps we jumped only the T10D, landing sucks. I would personally like to jump the T11, 200lb guy here could use a softer landing.

How many feet do you jump out of the aircraft and at what altitude in feet do you deploy the chute?

@hydrobot2003 Conventional Forces (XVIII Corps used T-10 parachutes) normally jump from 1000 ft. The AGL Basic Airborne Course uses T-10 and T-11 and they jump from 1250 ft. AGL Special Operations Forces use MC-6 and MC-4 parachutes. MC-6 (steerable) is normally jumped from 1000 ft. AGL but can be jumped much higher. MC-4 is a military free fall parachute and can be jumped from as high as 25,000 ft AGL. Check out our website for more information on Soldier Parachutes.
