Ok I'll ask. I can capture DV fro my Canon HV20 under DV NTSC 48k, but when I try to capture HDV, I can't and tried so many settings I'm exhausted. if you have any recommendations, please let me know. Thanks

how to do get that effects tab in the box next to the clip viewer

you dont need to use it, you can use the effects drop down list at the top
and id guess somewhere in the "window" tab you could find it
