As part of a greater movement with no real center or name, the Common Ground Youth Coalition is interviewing leading young change-makers to create a snapshot of what young people are doing for their generation nationally, and globally. The goal is to showcase young people from all walks of life who have been successful at making a change in the world, in any sector - public, private, political, religious, social, cultural, non-profit, etc. We hope that our collective work can demonstrate how youth can solve today's issues, work across traditional boundaries, and inspire others to do the same.
A believer in the transformative power of cross-cultural exchange, Ryan seeks to support the next generation of change-makers in acquiring the tools they need to solve society's most intractable problems. Ryan holds a Master's in Nonprofit Management from New York University, a Bachelor's Degree in International Development from Juniata College, and an IB Diploma from the United World College of the American West. Ryan's professional experiences include working as the Director of External Relations for the Asturias Academy, a human rights school in Guatemala, where he oversaw the creation of the organization's fundraising and volunteer programs, as well as serving on the Board of Directors of Reading Village, a U.S. nonprofit creating a culture of reading in Guatemala. In his spare time, Ryan can be found mentoring aspirant social entrepreneurs, playing guitar, biking, and spending time with good company.
