Actually a zombie is not all that far fetched. Stories of humans being hit with tetrodotoxin sprays in haiti and being buried alive likely inspired how zombie were portrayed in movies before romero. As for the practicality of making a real flesh eating zombie, youd need a virus that activates the central and peripheral nervous system, since they are capable of locomotion and use of the 5 basic senses (albeit to a primitive animalistic degree) My theory is that a zombie virus would reactivate...
This movie really does represent many of the issues of the 1970s: racism, police brutality, gang violence, abortion, consumerism, materialism, public distrust of the government. What's most interesting is that those issues are just as relevant today, if not more so!
@futureruler123 have you seen any of the films after this? in day of the dead the try to catch an alligator, in land one of them trys to eat a fish, in diary one is in a cubord eating rats, and in survival a group of them eat a horse
