Mr Knopfler - The Exploited? Sorry, dude, I just cannot take a punk band that is fronted by a public schoolboy called Tarquin seriously. Crass were a class above - no false rhetoric, they just lived it and called it as they saw it. One ex-Crass member is now an IT technician at Goldsmith's College London (posh arty college if you don't know it). Bit sad really. Only failing Crass had was a lack of humour, brilliant band otherwise.

Crass.....Influential?????? Bollox, us Brits well John Lydon and Malcolm Mclaren did in a seedy little shop in Soho, London....some say The New York Dolls were the 1st punks, thats just USA Bollox, in fact The Ramones are considered the 1st, Crass were considered by us English Punks as borderline shite, Except this song, bit like the Exploited, but The Sex Pistols in 1977 were the most influential punk group...FACT, nice post mon ami Ive been lookin for this for years....cheers pal for posting

Crass weren't the most influential band from Europe, ok some people think the New York Dolls were the 1st punks,!!.American bollox, the Sex Pistols were the most iNFLUENTIAL AND the 1st punk band was created by Malcolm Mclaren "John who used to come to my shop came up with the Idea of getting any fuker who cud play a fukin guitar or fukin drums shud get a band together".,.... so John Lydon, Facts my friend, Crass were considered borderline shite like the Exploited by us English

Fucking hell, great song.
Oh yeah?!

I love this song because it's such a typical in your face punk track. Is that Crass praodying the punk masses they despised, further promoting the message of it just being "a trick"...? Either way, SOTC is a fucking glorious album and this is a brilliant closing track. They were just eagles sniping at everything in sight, there was no escape from their vengeful gaze. Fucking brilliant.
