  • HI, I making a cnc plasma cutter table. I just wonder how can I setup the plasma torch so when the z axis goes up the toch turns off and when it goes down it turns on. I'm using Mach 3 and I have a regular Breakout board. I really have no idea. I will appreciated if you can help me out.

This unit uses a MP3000 torch height control made by Candcnc. It basically controls the the z axis and the plasma cutter through the Mach3 software. If you don't want to use a torch height control you can use the spindle on output to trigger a relay to turn the plasma cutter on and off with an M03 and M05 command.

  • Very nice! Want to build another?

  • @BraydenFleece

Sure we'll build another one. Are you looking to buy one?

  • Nice build. If I bought just the rack here in Australia it would cost about $10,000. I made one and it cost about $10000 and it's about 1/2 the size and has nowhere near the refinements you have on this one. Ahhh. America is the land of opportunity (and bloody cheap good stuff )

My Hypertherm 1250 cost $5800 and that was with a VERY good discount from the resaler.. I actually got mine running last week after 2 years of working out how it all goes together and the cut speeds and feeds etc

The rack we used was actually one of the cheapest components. It is a 20dp Made by Browning Gear It was purchased in 8ft sections though motion industries for about $200.00 each.

  • hey im new to this machinery and im a bit confused. What type of sensors are installed that allows the robot to know its current position?

  • @bcaindustries yah i buy one of u if cheap

  • Lol

That is a fraction of a similar size if you buy from a specialized company

    Nice Job

  • @bcaindustries

Now I am just totally jealous. Thanks for the reply.

The x and y axis drive on gear racks drive by zero lash planetary gear boxes. The z axis runs a precision acme screw. All axis ride on precision linear rails with an automatic lubricator which is plumed through lines and manifolds to each rail truck.

  • Can somebody help me? What mechanisms are used for x,y and z axis? Are those ball screws?

  • I have about $10,000 invested.

  • thats a whopper!

estimate of total build cost? im making a 4ft by 5ft with the same hypertherm, thc etc
