bought a fake with 2 screw truss rod cover. 17 degree angled headstock, a working truss rod, no black painted cavity and no sloppy wiring, all $300 dollars include shipping and the gibson logo and headstock.....should have spent my other $3000 dollars buying 10 of these rather than 1 original....thats all i can say.......Whoever are making those "fakes" or i call them replicas, they are getting damn good...

@joeysixtysix You're not taking into account the people that buy the fakes for $300 and then sell them on eBay for $2,000+

I cant wait for the person that takes Epiphone as a fake. there not really "fake" there 90% gibson pickups and machine made parts are the only difference. and yes to thoes that dont already know gibson hand makes them, like bosses.

@akhtab94 Even though the fakes have gotten a lot better over the years, there are still several simple ways to tell. I could spot them pretty quickly.

my friend bought a Fake Gibson Custom. all i can say is that they're getting DAMN GOOD at making these. they look SPOT ON to real gibsons. he even went to guitar center and did a test. He told the workers there he wanted to trade in his Gibson, but did not tell them it was fake. They looked over it and flipped their shit and got all excited and was about to hand over a lot of money. Then my friend told them it was a fake and he was just doing a test and it blew their minds that it was fake.

Also people, be-fore-warned, that some people suspect that the "fakes" are actually just epiphones with a gibson headstock logo and they are selling them off-market, so essentially they are epiphones (which are usually made in China, and NO epiphone is made in korea).
I have a dean dimebag razorback explosion and the ONLY model made of it has been made in china, and its 2 grand retrail, and 1,100 street price.

@TUUK2006 To be honest dude, I just tried a fake gibby today...I can 100% GUARANTEE no one here could have spot how it was fake. The ONLY messup that was there was 2 serial numbers. This one has a trussrod btw, and is heavy as sh*t, a good 6-7 pounds like real gibsons. A couple of guitar luthiers have been quoted as saying "just as good as any gibson I have played", and the only problem with the "fakes" coming out is that it says gibson. I would buy one in a heartbeat.
its fairly easy to spot a fake just by the headstock alone. fake headstocks just look wrong

@TheMullerFan
Yeah, fake headstocks do look wrong. Although, some of the newer fakes have it a lot more authentic looking.

What if the hesd isn't book cover style? more 3 or four dips?

Book cover style? Do you mean the "Gibson" at the top of the headstock? I don't quite understand what ya mean.

Do all fake have three screws in the truss rod cover?
Experimentaccount1 2 years ago
Good question,
Over the past few years, a lot of people have noticed the differences between the fake and the real guitars. So a lot of the fake manufacturers have changed to 2 screws like the real thing.
So no, not all fakes have three truss rod cover screws. But most of them do, and this is the most common way to tell the difference.
Thanks, and don't forget to subscribe =)
