watching this for probably the 5th time now and although people slag it off you got to undersatand how hard it is to be a national manager, especially england, and with phil "yes boss" neal and lawrie mac by his side its no wonder, taylor was a true gent all through this doc and he strikes me as a very intelligent and astute man, with so many ego's in one team at one time i dont think any manager at that time could have done a better job

@benmarks1984 yep, I've pretty much heard the same thing. I heard they didn't consider Venables back then because they simply thought he was too settled at Spurs and wouldn't be interested so they didn't approach him!. This was about the time he was involved in buying Spurs with Alan Sugar.

charles hughes!.the man who put us behind the rest of the world for home grown coaches.the great brian clough once asked him to do a tv debate he refused.he spen a million pounds on direct play as he called it.taylor,john beck,dave bassett all were hughes first coaches to pass there badges.say no more!!!
