City of New Orleans - Accordion

This song remembers me of my boyhood, when "steamhorses" were still alive...
just being replaced by Diesel- and E-engines...

I can still feel the heavy, mighty sound of slowly starting steamengines in my stomach - the loud whizzle in my ears... the burning dust in my eyes... the smell of burned coal in my nose.... see the steam coming out of the cylinders... feel the thunder, the strong vibration within the feet and bones on a full-speed bypassing train when standing close to it at the station... the look right into the face of a rolling locomotive when you stand on a bridge and getting caught by the smoke completely when it passes underneath... discovering the enormous strength of thousands of horsepowers on a highspeed- or extremely long supplytrain...




My instrumental version starts in the same way as a starting engine - slowly - getting faster step by step... (just imagine)...

The speed-changes on my playing are by purpose. During such a railroad travel, one could experience the hills and curves of the track within the speedchanges of the engine and the train...

This time has gone - the song too, but not in my mind. I love it.

Thanks a lot. This is one of the best compliments the audience can make. What people need when listening to my music is just fantasy, imagination....

maybe many of them don't have this ability (power, competence - how ever you want to call it) anymore... that is a pity. And this is something, many modern musicstyles can't supply to the audience: stimulation, animation, exitation to switch to a "dream-mode" of the human brains. Maybe many people have just forgotten, unlearned that as well....
