the "new" verse perfectly represents the direction donavon was about to go in with "Sunshine Superman" and offers a good contrast between that style and his earlier work as a dylan-influenced folk singer.

This version has an additional verse never recorded anywhere about Donovan's friend and tutor Derroll Adams. Derroll Adams travelled extensively with Jack Elliott as well , but Derroll stayed behind in Europe while Jack returned to the U.S.A.

god this is amazing

Peter Seeger is still alive! I wonder if he still plays banjo? Wouldn't it be great to have him and Donovan recreate this?

this is my favourite Song from Donovan

@eldudareno the bus is a symbol of public/altruistic intent - seeger is thinking from a socialist premise
the police represent the symbol of thug/force that was being misused by a perverted capitalist agenda.
the police are an instrument such as a soldier is.
always examine your premise....

It's true what he said. Cops are the enemy. And I don't say that lightly or for any reasons other than Seegers's

@eldudareno You supported the brass and you wonder why Pete Seeger says you were the enemy? He's a rather gentle person and you are the enemy!
-
@acidkilledjazz donovan was influenced by dylan nonetheless but it's more true to say that they came from the same place, Woody. Dylan and Donovan were pretty much doing guthrie ya know?

So? So how exactly does that make him full of shit?
He was born in 1919. He said some bad things about cops in 1980. How does that make him full of shit?
Pity the video is completely distorted.
