Detroit UNITE HERE Local 24 Rank And File Protest Power Grab

These members dues of about 4 million per year have been going to Chicago for over 2 years.
They democratically voted to join the board hoping bigger is better. After realizing they were better off before the merger they were democratically trying to dissolve the merger.
They are in the process of withdrawing from the joint board to regain control of their own dues.
The Chicago Joint board has trumped up charges against Detroit local officials, gained access to the Detroit locals offices, changed the locks before local elected officers got to work, thereby keeping them from doing the members business, all in an effort to keep the Detroit Local 24 members dues flowing into their own coffers.

Has anyone noticed that the Unite Here Local 24 website has mysteriously been down since the Chicago/Midwest Board has taken over... the only working link on the page refers you to Chicago's contact numbers.

We LIVE and WORK in MICHIGAN. We pay our dues in Michigan. Our union local is IN Michigan. Why should we have to call a Chicago number when we need to contact OUR union?

Go back to Chicago Clayola. Our local 24 has thousands of signatures against you. You're not wanted here.

I am one of the newly elected executive board members of local 24. It is very sad to see the lengths that Chicago MidWest will go to to keep our dues money. Ask Clayola why she won't participate in full disclosure for finances for Local 24 to the dues paying members. What does Chicago MidWest have to hide? The longer they keep the financial records hidden it shows to all members of Local 24 that they are not being truthful about the financial condition of Local 24
