Michael Pollan, a contributing writer to the New York Times Magazine and the recipient of numerous journalistic awards, served for many years as executive editor of Harpers Magazine and is now a professor of Science and Environmental Journalism at UC Berkeley. He is also the nations most influential and important thinker and writer on food and agriculture, the author of many seminal, award-winning, bestselling books.

@hans89 Pollan here is just trying to be optimistic.. at least Obama claiming to support agricultural reform is a step up from previous presidents.

It sounds nice, but hey... Obama is a puppet of lobbyists, and what America is experiencing right now is increased hostility to small farmers. Obama may be talking about climate change, but I think that's more about justifying undesirable laws than genuine interest.

Mr. Pollan is a great wake up call for America. Say what you will, his words are the future of food, and it tastes great!

When I listen to these "bioneers" talk, "sanctimonious" is the first word that pops into my head.
