  • Great band, not one of the better versions of this tune, though. "Frenesi" is supposed to be a rhumba, and the arranger here turned it into a funeral dirge.

  • I wouldn't go that far. It is not as good as Shaw's, yet better than some others.

  • Very nice!! I enjoy these orchestra/brass type sounds. How do you perfectly place the needle on the beginning of the song? I always have troubles

  • Lots of practice! Actually if I screw up at the very beginning I just start over again.

  • I love this Miller version of FRENESI. The Benny Goodman version is also great. The Shaw version is the best known and is marvelous to listen to.

That's the great thing about the bands of that time. The best ones could take material from another band and make it sound entirely different....and good.

  • @StudebakerHawk57

Try the Benny Goodman version and see which one you like more. :)

  • I'm 17 and i just showed this song to my mom, she loved it as much as i do

  • @Swingsation65 Indeed. Glenn was far too savvy to try and compete with an ideal arrangement. Listen also to his really blues version of take the a train-absolutely brilliant and so different from Duke's definitive version that it could almost be a different song=which was the whole point!

  • Though I really love the Artir Shaw version of this, this recording by Glenn Miller sounds like one i would really love to dance with my wife to

  • And i prefer glenn miller... really... artie shaw was ok... miller was better. Better knowledge of arrangements, composition, music organization

  • beautiful

  • Tengo 39 años y mi padre QEPD me enseñó a apreciar la buena música a la edad de 5 o 6 años, en un tocadiscos con discos de acetato. Que nostalgia...

  • Though the Glenn Miller Band is my all-time favorite, Glenn kind of missed the mark on this one. But then, who could do Frenesi better than Artie Shaw?

  • doesn't compre to Shaw, Artie was far better
