Saturday Dec.10, 2011: Well this was a very eventful evening! The wife and I along with our niece, Sory were at our boutique; they were outside and I was on the computer inside when the quake hit.. I just grabbed my camera instantly and started to film just after the power goes out and as I'm running outside myself.. I could feel myself actually go airborne a couple times as the ground moved up and down! This was one Hell of a jolt!
The 40 mile (65 km) depth is what saved us from a major disaster!

Downgraded to a 6.5 Magnitude

  • Wow!!!!! what an experience that was for you rv. I am glad y'all are okay. My mom says she had never experienced one this bad, and she could just pray that nothing catastrophic woud happen. The last time there was a quake in guerrero her and I were on the phone while it was happening, she just said" wait a minute it's an earthquake." Her house has some kind of hydraulic stuff underneath for these phenomenons, but I am not really sure how it would help she still felt the house rocking, how scary!

  • @ELISMILEY1127 Thanks! I've felt 3 quakes in my life so far - all in Guerrero state..

January 1, 2004 felt a 5.4 quake here in Iguala

6 months ago (June 18 I believe) felt a 4.3 while in Acapulco

and then this 6.5.. It's just fascinating to me to actually experience them. LOL!

  • hey man. glad youre okay. i must have disregarded this video with thinking it was some weather thing. shoulda known if it said iguala it was you. lol

the parade was kinda funny. proud of the durango.

of which, i need to upload videos but im having problems... pm me your email... got some pics

  • @mobsterbillyjoe Oh yeah we're good. That quake was intense!

Despite the Durango still burning oil and having low compression in #1 cylinder, it's still doing great! Considering doing an overhaul on the heads sometime in the future which may solve both those problems but money is tight right now so it won't happen anytime soon unfortunately :(

  • Glad you guys are fine. You should record the damage over at tuxpan. Another note; What program do you use to edit your videos? And is that standard with the flip video camcorder at the end?

  • @alvz86 Not sure if there was any actual damage in Tuxpan as they seemed to be unfounded rumors..

I use the FlipVideo editing program that came with my FlipVideo camera and the Flip logo at the end is optional.. Been thinking about doing away with that.

  • @PhxAntrax About 10pm I think

  • @rvr2 so what time did the power go back on

  • @420SCARFACE Yeah I was able to get through to my folks in the U.S. and they pulled up the info on the USGS website right away.
