Here's a look at the artistry of D. Ray White, whose life and original dancing style will be portrayed by Muse Watson in "White Lightnin'," the upcoming film dramatizing the lives of dancer Jessco White and the man who inspired him; his father, D. Ray White.

  • D. Ray was amazing... and Jesco White, his son, is quite talented. The documentaries, especially the oldest: Talking Feet: Solo Southern Dance, and the 1991 documentary, The Dancing Outlaw, focusing mostly on Jesco.

As for The Wild and Wonderful World of the Whites, it has some great moments, my favorite being when Jesco get's philosophical and states something to the effect of his life having been like watching a film of himself. To me, the most touching scene in the film.

  • @opinjaa

I do too..D Ray is just too much..

  • Watched the Wonderful Whites again last night, I cant get enough... They are, As Malcom Mclaren said of Sid Vicious, "A fabulous disaster".. No disrespect ment.

A true outlaw family and a true American story.

  • I watch this every time when I'm stoned or in bad mood... Simply genious.. so freaking positive!

  • I came here to pay my respect to Mr. White ; Long live freedom ! The fight against fascism and so called corrupted "Govt. Institutions" continues !

  • Ive played this video a 100 times. I wanna do this but my wife thinks its dumb. Shes an ass !!!

I am ordering me up a pair of these dancin' shoes and she wont be able to hear the soaps on TV no more. D Ray has inspired me....Give em hell Jesco !!! Yeeeee Haaaaa

  • I love WVa !

  • I sorta think Jesco actually became a bit better than his dad by around age 35 or so. But D. Ray took the dancing more serious, as the actual way he wanted to make a better living for his family. Jesco seems to have taken the dancing as a way to have fun & gain some time in the spotlight .... and I mean no insult by that, only that it doesn't seem to be as deeply important to Jesco. But saddly, the hard years of drugs & such have REALLY slowed Jesco down now & that shows in his dancing too.

  • god damn no one else on youtube can tap like that. he makes it look hella fun and badass too. im gettin some clogs damnit

  • D. Ray had his own style, he invented 52 tap steps. Impressive mountain man!
