@Sointula2 Keith, Neil, Springsteen, Tom Waits - rough voices - maybe it can be hard to call them "singers" BUT their voices are like an instrement in the song. Those voices add to the song. Could you hear a guy with an incredible voice like Raul Malo singing Born To Run or Copperhead Road? I think those "gravely" voices give the song a "tone", a feeling, a setting a "vision" of the song. Just an opinion, just an idea.

The "beautiful" Lucinda? That's like not calling Willie Nelson a joke. It's a terrific song, though. Listen to the studio version w/ all the reverb & w/out Willie to ruin it. Would someone tell Nelson it's cool & all to play an ancient, battered guitar. But not when it's been out of tune for decades.

No NKYgirl, you're not the only one to notice that the great Lucinda was stoned out of her mind.

Lucinda looks naked without her guitar
"your pale skin and your sexy crooked teeth, the trouble you get in. I'll get over you, over time".
Heartfelt lyrics and perfect accompaniment by Mr. Nelson. Lucinda Williams is the salt of the earth. Go on ya good thing.

Just the perfect pairing really, two of music's greatest singer-songwriters.
