On September 17th, Howie Hawkins, the Green Party candidate for Governor of New York, challenged Carl Paladino to one or more debates. This press conference was held outside of the Ellicott Square Building, which is owned by Carl Paladino, CEO of the Ellicott Development Corporation.

  • @DudeWhoLikesMuzak That's what they want me to think... but that's what's true unfortunately. How many third party congressmen does the US have? I think there might be a handful of reps but they're all closely associated with or former members of one of the two majors parties. I wish it wasn't this way, but it is. I am beginning to feel more confident though that Cuomo will beat Paladino so I may throw my vote behind Hawkins, Barron, or McMillan, just to show support for their ideas and change.

  • @wisdom360 thats exactly what the people in power want you to believe because they control both major parties so as long as that is all your willing to look at as a possibility then your not really even exercising your rights. A lot of people died for those rights I think it's best to take full advatage. Howie COULD win, it's really not impossible as they would love you to believe.

  • @ Wisdom360. I'm familiar with the pragmatic argument, and I don't buy it anymore. I fell for it in 2000, and voted for Gore when I wanted to vote for Nader. Bush stole it anyway. Different face, same story in '04.

I voted for Obama and cried when he was sworn in, and I've wanted to cry since, as I've watched them sell us out. Now, I'm pissed, and I'm not falling for the pragmatic fallicy anymore. Vote Green!

  • Read Darrin Robbins's essay (Steuben Greens) to get the answer why you need to vote for Howie because he's on your side. No one has a crystal ball to tell the future. So it makes no sense to say he has no chance to win. If every person who's said what you said actually voted for Howie on Nov. 2, Howie would become governor. Stop being afraid and vote for Howie.

  • cuomo isn't conservative...hes a corporate liberal..... I wouldn't vote for this guy either. I'm voting for crazy carl or warren redlich.

  • I know Howie Hawkins is on my side but the reality is that he has no chance to win. If he did I would vote for him, but my #1 concern is just making sure that Paladino doesn't get into office. He would destroy this place. That's why I'm voting for Cuomo. I really just hope Hawkins will do more damage to Paladino than Cuomo. If any halfway normal Republican, like Lazio, was running, I'd give my vote to Hawkins, but we must do whatever it takes to keep Paladino out!

  • I listen to the radio in the morning and all I hear is Paladino this, Paladino that. I wanna here about how Howie Hawkins schooled him in a debate. I'm also getting sick of those red signs Paladino has that say "I'm mad too" Gimme a Break.
